Psychopathie im Kindesalter

Published Online:https://doi.org/10.1026/0942-5403.16.4.260

Psychopathy in childhood

Abstract. The concept of psychopathy is increasingly being investigated among children and adolescents. It has become clear that children exhibiting psychopathic characteristics show more serious and variegated antisocial behavior. Employment of the psychopathology concept enables us to identify a specific subgroup of children and adolescents with conduct disorder, which is characterized by a particularly serious and chronic trajectory. However, research on the concept of psychopathy in childhood and adolescence is still in its initial phase, and so it should be employed carefully in practice. The concept of psychopathology is outlined, as are relevant diagnostic procedures. Epidemiology, comorbidity, and trajectories are described.
