Abstract

Two types of mycorrhizae were found on the roots of Wollemia nobilis Jones, Hill & Allen collected from the field, Paris-type arbuscular mycorrhizae (AM) and ectendomycorrhizae. By contrast, roots ofAgathis robusta (C.Moore ex F.Muell) and Araucaria cunninghamii Aiton ex D.Don, also members of the family Araucariaceae, had only Paris-type AM. Arbuscular mycorrhizae were found in both nodules and elongate roots from all plants, but ectendomycorrhizae were found only on elongate roots of oneplant of W. nobilis. Implications of these findings are discussed in relation to outplanting propagated specimens of W. nobilis.
