Abstract

We show that the kinetic equation governing the one-particle distribution function of the hard-sphere fluid, as obtained from the binary-collision expansion, reduces to the modified Enskog equation in the limit of infinite number of space dimensions. The contribution of loop diagrams is exponentially small. The transport coefficients of the fluid are obtained.
