Abstract

Generalized susceptibilities, χ0(q), have been obtained for the 1T polymorphs of both TaS2 and TaSe2 from their Korringa-Kohn-Rostoker band structures. Peaks are found which correspond to the charge-density-wave (CDW) nesting vectors found by Wilson, Di Salvo, and Mahajan and appear to confirm the role of electronically driven instabilities as the origin of the observed CDW in these metals.
