Abstract

Thermoelectric power (TEP) and electrical conductivity measurements are reported for different crystal directions and for varying oxygen deficiency in single-crystal YBa2Cu3Oy. The dependency of the transport parameters on direction are compared with the predictions of band theory. The c-axis conductivity and TEP are suggestive of non-band-transport as might be displayed by a localized system.
