Geochemical estimation of the half-life for the double beta decay of Zr96

Abstract

An excess amount of Mo96 found in a 1.7×109 yr zircon sample from Cable Sands’ Western Australia, yielded a half-life of (3.9±0.9)×1019 yr for the double beta decay of Zr96 to Mo96.
