Abstract
With this publication, we start the process of lectotypification of diatom taxa described from Lake Baikal during the first part of the 20th century. In this initial effort, six species described by Skabitschewsky in 1936 from Ajaja Bay are lectotypified using a type slide from his collection. Species descriptions are emended based on LM observations. Two new combinations are suggested according to modern taxonomic interpretations.
