Abstract: An investigation was conducted to study the light intensity, leaf photosynthetic rate and leaf area variation of garden trees canopy surface(A),the outer layer of 1/3(B),middle layer of 1/3(C) and inner layer of 1/3(D).We analyzed the variation of the light intensity in different parts, the unit area of leaf carbon fixation, oxygen release and leaf area in different kinds of trees to explore the evaluation method for the landscape trees ecological function of carbon fixation and oxygen release. The results show that the light intensity, the carbon fixation and oxygen release of the unit leaf area decrease from layer A to the center of tree top.The average is close to the value in the layer B or between the layer B and layer C.Leaf area of layer B is the biggest accounting for 51.47%,followed by layer C accounting for 29.88%.We calculated the amount of whole plant carbon fixation and oxygen release with unit leaf area of carbon fixation and oxygen release of layers A,B,C and D,accounting for 1.53-2.37,1.04-1.32,0.6-0.96 and 0.25-0.53 times of the whole plant. Therefore,it is more reasonable and convenient that the midpoint between the layers B and C,but close to the layer B,is used to evaluate the landscape tree ecological function of carbon fixation and oxygen release.
