Abstract:
Over the last years cross-cultural researches of various individual and psychological peculiarities of the personality are becoming more and more urgent which also include social intelligence. Cross-cultural study of social intelligence in national and foreign psychology is young trend, and, because of its novelty, it is underdeveloped. In the course of cross-cultural researches of the last ten years the focus is shifted towards cognitive peculiarities of the person. Upon that it can be conveniently divided into four priority areas of research: research of peculiarities of cognitive development, as determinant of high academic progress (Berry J.W., Bruner J., Greenfield R.M., Gay J., Dawson J.V., Wober M., Sharp D.U., etc.); researches of international communication and interpersonal interaction within the linguistic approach and the theory of causal attribution (Andreeva G.M., Bodalev A.A., Dweck K., Konovalova M.A., Kunitsyna V.N., Miller D., Harrison L., Hollman F.L., Chiu K.U., Choi I., Shmelev A.G., etc.); mentality studying, as complex social and psychological phenomenon (Abulkhanova-Slavskaya K.A., Averyanova Yu.I., Akopov G.V., Ivanova T.V. Pishchik V.I., etc.); theories of "cultural intelligence" (Bennett M., Brislin R., Thomas D., Triandis H., Hofstede G., Khukhlaev O.E., etc.).
It should be noted that within these trends not so much the social intelligence itself, as the cognitive processes of social reality, as well as the processes of perception, understanding, thinking, imagination and social adaptation have been studied.
Cross-cultural peculiarities of social intelligence itself find their partial reflection in the theory of cross-cultural intelligence (Ascalon M.A., Schleicher D.J., Marise P.B.).
Thus, the relevance of our research is caused by insufficient study of the peculiarities of social intelligence of the representatives of different nationalities in general, as well as the lack of the works focused on studying of the specifics of social intelligence of the representatives of Asia and the South of Russia.
In this regard, we have conducted the research with the goal to study the peculiarities of the social intelligence of the representatives of Asia and the South of Russia.
The analysis of the obtained results has allowed to reveal the general and the specific peculiarities of social intelligence of the students of the Russian, Chechen, Armenian and Arab nationalities. In particular, the level of social intelligence of the representatives of both Armenian and Chechen nationality is quite low. Consequently, they may have difficulty in understanding and predicting the behavior of people, which complicates the relationship and reduces the possibilities of social adaptation. Representatives of Russian and Arab nationality differentiates the average level of social intelligence that characterizes them as people capable to extract the maximum information about the behavior of people who understand the language of non-verbal communication, express fast and accurate judgments about people successfully, predict their reactions in the given circumstances and to exercise foresight in relations with the other, which contributes to their successful social adaptation.
The obtained results can form a basis for creation of the system of activities aimed at the development of social intelligence of students of different nationalities.
